Participatory sensing is an emerging paradigm that enables people to participate in data collection for various purposes. It provides an opportunity for the public to contribute in data collection. Thus, people are crucial to the success of a participatory sensing project and how to motivate people to participate is an important question. This paper addresses the factors which affect people’s motivation in participatory sensing. It helps to understand possible reasons of people’s participation which which can be used to inform the design of such systems.
